Internal lubrication
Designing the bolts of the chain with an internal lubrication channel is a common and successful method used to lubricate the chain, where it is needed most.
A grease nipple is often mounted at the head of the pin of the chain. Through this grease nipple, the hinges of the chain can be provided with lubrication either by hand or with an automatic lubrication system. To properly distribute the grease between the pin and the bushing, one can design the pin with a spiral lubrication channel or with a flat milled reservoir.
Maintenance-free chains
Maintenance-free chains feature a special coating and typically feature special hardening technology for the hinges.

Unlike standard chains, maintenance-free chains are suitable to continue operating temporarily without or with inadequate lubrication. Maintenance-free chains feature a special coating and typically feature special hardening technology for the hinges. Maintenance-free chains can be applied in situations where lubrication is not possible or not desirable. Because of this, maintenance-free conveyor chains, in particular, are widely used in the food industry, where lubrication is undesirable because of the environment.
Stainless steel conveyor chains
Conveyor chains from stainless steel and acid-resistant steel are particularly suitable for corrosion-sensitive applications
Conveyor chains from stainless steel and acid-resistant steel are particularly suitable for corrosion-sensitive applications, but also for applications in extremely high or low ambient temperatures. Because of this fact, these conveyor chains, in particular, are widely used in the chemical and food industry.
The coated conveyor chain
The use of functional coatings significantly increases the number of possible applications of the conveyor chain.
To increase the corrosion protection, the chain parts can be chemically nickel-plated, nickel-plated or zinc-plated. In order to reduce the wear on the chain bolts, they can be chemically nickel-plated or nitrided.

Galle chains
The Galle chains are available in normal or maintenance-free versions.
K&W Transmissies supplies Galle chains in accordance with DIN 8150 MT. In addition, depending on the customer-specific application, these can also be custom designed and manufactured. The Galle chains are available in normal or maintenance-free versions. Besides the different designs, there are also a variety of materials such as steel, zinc-plated steel or stainless steel (hardened stainless steel).
The conveyor sprockets for these Galle chains can be produced according to the customer’s needs by K&W Transmissies in its own factory.
Galle chains are applied in locks, dams, slipways etc. With their years of experience and expertise, the product specialists at K&W Transmissies can advise the customer appropriately. In the Netherlands, miscellaneous locks are fitted with chains supplied by K&W Transmissies. A certain lock in the Twente Canal is even equipped with a special maintenance-free Galle chain from K&W Transmissies.
