Corrosion resistance conveyor chains

Corrosion-resistant conveyor chains are made of either corrosion-resistant materials or they are steel chains that are treated with a special coating.

For more information, read the options mentioned in nickel-plated, zinc-plated or stainless steel. In addition, lubricating the chain is another (limited) method of preventing or reducing corrosion.

Zinc-plated conveyor chains

To increase the protection against corrosion, chain parts can be chemically nickel-plated, nickel-plated or zinc-plated.

The use of functional coatings significantly increases the number of possible applications of conveyor chains. To increase the protection against corrosion, chain parts can be chemically nickel-plated, nickel-plated or zinc-plated. In order to reduce the wear on these chain bolts, they can be chemically nickel-plated or nitrided.

Reinforced conveyor chains

The conveyor chains can be produced in a reinforced version

Basic versions of conveyor chains are produced according to a basic standard. However, these conveyor chains can also be produced in a reinforced version. For example, chains can be made with an increased tensile strength and carrying capacity. This increase in strength can be obtained by using a higher grade steel and/or special heat treatments.

Attachments for conveyor chains

The attachments for conveyor chains are available in both bolted-on and welded-on versions.

The vast majority of conveyor chains that are manufactured are provided with carriers. The shape and the dimensions of these attachments are almost always determined according to the wishes of the customer. Attachments are available in both bolted-on and welded-on versions. Since many attachments are produced by laser cutting, the possibilities are almost limitless.

Ball bearings

The chain can be designed with ball bearing rollers

In order to reduce the resistance encountered by a chain, when it is transported across its rollers, the chain can be designed with ball-bearing rollers. Depending on the load, one can also opt for barrel or needle bearings. The static load of the ball bearings tends to be lower compared with a traditional roller. In addition, very high temperatures in which the chain has to function can reduce the applicability of the use of ball bearings.

Sealed conveyor chains

Sealed conveyor chains

Polluted conveyor chains chain hinges can lead to increased wear and tear or prevent the chain from being lubricated effectively

When a conveyor chain must operate in a dirty environment, it is often undesirable that this dirt also enters into the hinges of the chain. Polluted chain hinges can lead to increased wear and tear or prevent the chain from being lubricated effectively. A possibility to prevent this debris from entering the hinge of the chain is the application of a seal between the inner and the outer plates. There are various possibilities, such as an O or X-ring seal, possibly in combination with a labyrinth seal. These chains are often designed with an internal lubrication channel.
