Accumulator chains are suitable for the conveyance and accumulation of piece goods, and they are usually employed for a parallel-running operation. In the standard design the chains run on a guide rail with lateral support rollers.During the accumulation-free conveyance operation the piece goods are sitting on the conveyor rollers and are transported with chain speed, whereas during the accumulation process the chain will continue to run smoothly under the accumulated piece goods due to the freely movable conveyor rollers. Rolling friction during accumulation results in a slight impact pressure on the goods so that transportation will continue easily and without delay after the accumulation process.

Depending on the required application, conveyor rollers with different diameters and made of different materials (steel, PA 6.6, PA 12 antistatic) can be supplied.

Accumulator chains are also available in stainless steel, as Marathon maintenance-free chains as well as in duplex or triplex designs. In case of the duplex design the roller distance is only half that of the simplex design since the conveyor rollers are staggered. For long conveyance distances lateral guide plates are recommended.

The chains can also be supplied as accumulator chains AFS with AFS clips for increased operating and work safety.

Leaf chain

Leaf chains are standardized according to ISO 4347.

They are used as load chains in cranes, hoisting gear and lifting equipment as well as for holding counterweights and for the transmission of back-and-forth movements under load.Standards distinguish between the leaf chain type series LL, which is based on chain components according to roller chain standard ISO 606 type B (European type), and the type series LH (also BL) based on chain components according to standard ISO 606 type series A (American type).

Leaf chains are constructed as plate chains and, due to their particular design, work without a meshing sprocket. The combination of plates (outer plates x inner plates) is variable and selected according to the load. Inner and outer links at the chain ends ensure a simple fixing of leaf chains to respective acceptance devices.

For particularly high loads we recommend the heavy-duty leaf chain type U according to works standard.

Our range comprises a large selection of standardized attachments for standard roller chains (including Marathon, Biathlon and RF stainless).

Roller chains with plastic clips

Roller chains with plastic clips are employed in conveying systems to transport a variety of different goods.

If the goods to be transported are not easily damageable like e.g. euro pallets, they can be conveyed directly on the chain. However, damageable goods such as chipboard and varnished or veneered goods must be protected against damages caused by the chain during the conveying process.

Wippermann offers a number of different plastic clips made of POM. These clips are suitable for mounting on roller chains (type series GL) and prevent the direct contact between the chain and the items to be transported. Furthermore, they enlarge the contact surface and they are therefore able to guarantee a particularly safe conveyance process. The special design of the plastic clips also prevents a possible tilting in the deflections of the chain conveyor. In order to further strengthen the clip fixation we recommend the use of unrivetted roller chains.

For the conveyance of particularly delicate and easily slipping goods Wippermann offers plastic clips with an overlay made of thermo-plastic elastomer (TPU) with a hardness of approximately 85 Shore A. These clips significantly increase the adhesion friction coefficient between the conveyed item and the clip, which ensures an absolutely slip-free conveyance process. On request, hardness degrees between 50 Shore A and 90 Shore A are possible.
